Almost three years ago the Peelbergen Equestrian Centre organised its first and up till now only CDI3* competition. Partly due to the Corona pandemic, there was no follow-up, but this year the equestrian centre, together with Annemiek van der Vorm, is organizing two international dressage competitions, both for youth and at three-star level. In less than a month, from 21 to 24 April, there will be an outdoor CDI3*/CDIU25/Y/J/Ch and Pony event. Indoors a similar show program is planned from 1 to 4 December.
With the appointment of Annemiek van der Vorm as coordinator, the organisation has recruited an experienced dressage specialist and competition organiser. “We can really use Annemiek’s knowledge and experience, as we haven’t organised many international dressage competitions ourselves yet”, explains managing director Ken Ruysen.
Super important events
“It is a shame that there are only a few Youth CDI’s held in the Netherlands and I wanted to change that,” adds Van der Vorm. “Events like these are super important for the development of the dressage youth, as well as for the Netherlands as an equestrian country. It is great that the Peelbergen is opening their versatile venue for dressage and international competitions are always good for the sport.”
Preparation Dutch Championships
“Looking at other events in the planning is very important. We’ve really looked for good dates so that these events would have a logical place in the calendar, considering other CDI’s and different championships. The outdoor CDI, for example, now fits well in the preparation for some combinations towards the Dutch Championships”, Van der Vorm continues.
Versatile venue
“The Peelbergen has a top accommodation where we the competitions can be held in two rings at the same time. The stables are close by, the arena footings are well maintained and there are many training options. In addition, it is possible to organise a party in an appropriate manner once again, so I expect it to be a nice event overall. We are hearing optimistic reactions by the riders that have already entered for the show, so that bodes well. We all look forward to it.”
Program and para-dressage
Besides international dressage, there is also an international para-dressage competition on the calendar just before the start of the summer, from 17 until 19 June.
